Oasis Church team from Reynosa16 viewsHere is the Oasis Church group from Reynosa with whom I worked. In front are Mera, Andrea, and Sarai; in the back are Pastor Juan Murgia (pastor of the church), Ariane, me, and Chayo. We are standing in front of "the church" in Tampico, under the tarp they set up to provide shelter from the rain, and shade from the sun.May 31, 2007

Oasis Church girls16 viewsHere are the girls from the Oasis Church (who drove down from Reynosa) just playing around. Gives you a little bit of a view inside the Tampico church. That table is the "pharmacy" for the clinic. The people waited outside in the chairs for their turn; and we also had the evangelistic services outside in the chairs. Behind the girls you can see the neighbor's house. Hope they didn't mind all the commotion!

Potter's House group15 viewsThe group from the Potter's House (i.e., T.D. Jakes' church in Dallas) that flew down to minister for a weekend in Tampico. On the left is Dr McClurry (the doctor I translated for), Ever, Eva (the other nurse), and Angela. Angela spoke during the service on Saturday night. Dr McClurry had fun trying to set me up with one of the Mexican doctor's working with us at the clinic, and making fun of my curly hair. =)May 31, 2007

Templo Cristiana Tierra Prometida14 viewsPicture of Chayo and the banner--taken in front of the church. The banner is the only way you would even know there is a church there. The name of the church, "Tierra Prometida," means "The Promised Land."

Me and fellow-translator Ariane16 viewsMe and my fellow-translator Ariane after a long day of translating for the clinic. Aren't we looking our loveliest? We got to be good friends on the trip, visited a lot. Her story is pretty amazing. She lived in Arlington and was working at Mission Arlington before she got sick in 2001. She had cancer; had surgery in Arlington, and then came back to Mexico for chemo to be closer to family--and survived! She's lived in Reynosa for about 3 years.May 31, 2007
